Dental Implants in Vietnam 2026: Real Costs, Real Clinics, Real Results
Dental implants are one of the most significant dental investments you'll ever make — and one of the procedures where Vietnam savings are most dramatic. Single implants, multiple replacements, or a full arch: here's everything you need to know before you book.
Single Implants vs. Multiple Implants vs. All-on-4: Which Do You Need?
- Single implant: One titanium post replaces one missing tooth. Includes the implant body, abutment, and crown. Best for isolated tooth loss where surrounding teeth are healthy.
- Multiple implants: Two or more individual implants, each replacing a single tooth. More expensive than All-on-4 for large-scale replacements but preserves maximum bone and allows independent replacement.
- All-on-4: Four implants support a full-arch fixed bridge — replacing all teeth in the upper or lower arch. Ideal for patients with significant tooth loss or failing dentition. See our dedicated All-on-4 guide for full detail.

Which Implant Brands Are Used in HCMC?
This is a critical question — and one you should ask any clinic before you book. In Ho Chi Minh City you'll find the full spectrum, from premium international brands to cheaper Chinese-manufactured implants without the same long-term track record.
At our partner clinics, we use:
- Straumann (Switzerland): The gold standard of implant brands. 30+ year track record, global warranty, and the most extensively researched implant system available.
- Nobel Biocare (Sweden): Another premium brand with outstanding clinical evidence. Available at our top-tier partner clinics.
- Osstem (South Korea): A high-quality, well-researched brand with strong long-term data. More affordable than Straumann while maintaining excellent outcomes.
- MIS Implants (Israel): Widely used and clinically proven. A reliable mid-tier option for patients on a tighter budget.
Am I a Candidate? What Affects Eligibility
- Bone density and volume: Implants require sufficient jawbone to anchor into. A CBCT scan (3D X-ray) assesses this on Day 1. If you've had bone loss, a bone graft may be required — this adds time and cost.
- Gum health: Active gum disease must be treated before implant placement. We check for this at the initial consultation.
- Diabetes and smoking: Both affect healing. Controlled diabetes is manageable; smoking significantly increases implant failure risk. We'll advise honestly.
- Age: Implants are not placed in patients whose jawbone is still developing — typically under 18 years old.
The Timeline: How Many Trips Do You Need?
Single implants require osseointegration — the implant fusing with the jawbone — which takes 3–6 months. Most patients need two trips:
- Trip 1 (5–7 days): Implant placement surgery. A temporary crown is fitted the same day. You return home and wait for osseointegration.
- 3–6 months later — Trip 2 (3–5 days): Permanent crown is fitted. Some patients have a local dentist complete this step using our clinic's abutment records.
- All-on-4 exception: Because All-on-4 uses immediate-load protocol, you get temporary teeth on surgery day and leave after 10–12 days. Final prosthesis is placed 3–6 months later.
12 Questions to Ask Before Booking
- What brand of implant will you use? Ask for the product name — 'premium brand' is not an answer.
- Do you have a CBCT scanner on-site? Non-negotiable for safe implant planning.
- Who performs the surgery — a general dentist or a trained implantologist?
- What is your implant success rate, and can you share patient outcomes data?
- Will I receive the implant passport (brand and batch number documentation)?
- What is your warranty policy if the implant fails within the first year?
What Is the Real Risk of Implant Failure?
The global implant failure rate at quality clinics is 2–5%. The most common causes are poor bone quality, smoking, infection (peri-implantitis), or inadequate placement technique.
At the clinics we recommend, the failure rate sits below the global average — because of rigorous patient screening and surgical technique. We won't recommend implants for patients who aren't good candidates, even if they want to proceed.
If an implant fails, a reputable clinic will redo the procedure — usually at no additional cost or at a significant discount. Our partner clinics provide written guarantees. Always get this in writing before you start.
Long-Term Care After Your Implants
Implants are not maintenance-free. They require the same care as natural teeth — brushing, flossing (including around the implant crown), and regular professional cleaning.
Peri-implantitis — inflammation around the implant — is the most common long-term complication and is almost entirely preventable with good oral hygiene. We give every implant patient a detailed care guide before they return home, and our partner clinics are available for follow-up consultations by video or in person.
With proper care, implants placed at quality clinics last a lifetime.
